Paula’s (KK4WVO) Facebook Post

Paula (KK4WVO) made the following Fakebook post on Sunday after members memorialized Big Rick (KB3TYZ), during her Sunday Morning Simplicity Net.

Thought I’d share an undeniable God moment as we remembered Big Rick KB3TYZ this morning during my Sunday Simplicity net.

During the net, the story was shared about how “Geraldine” (our transmit timer) came to be and that Big Rick was the one to name it in reference to Flip Wilson and his character Geraldine. I had never heard that story and smiled understanding the history behind our “Geraldine”.

I attended an old country church today for the first time with my boyfriend, Keith, and some of his family that was in town visiting his Dad, Cecil. We normally go to church with Keith’s “bonus” Dad, Frank. When I say an old country church, I mean not only old, but extremely small in attendees – the board said “14” were in attendance last week!
The sermon was on Genesis 3 and one of the VERY first things the preacher said when he stepped up to the podium was, “Do you remember the old Flip Wilson show and Geraldine? Flip Wilson had a skit about “The Devil Made Me Do It.”? (WHAT?!? 😲)

My jaw just dropped. And I looked up, smiled and said silently, “Alright Big Rick, I know you are here!” And I could not help but think of all the times Big Rick took the time to reach out to me when he hadn’t heard me in awhile or just to say he was thinking of me. I am forever grateful for that “big brother” and know he will continue to be with each of us and Our Coffee Shop.

After the service, I got in the car and said to my guy, “God really does have a sense of humor!” I went on to explain my God moment and he just laughed with me. Sitting around the table for a big ole country lunch, Keith said, “Paula, why don’t you share what happened at church today.” And I was able to share the story of our “bouncer” and know without a doubt that he was amongst us today at that little country church in Mulberry, TN. Everyone agreed that it was a God moment!

Be blessed my friends and have a great week ahead!

Roger’s Trip to Space Center Houston

Here are a few pictures I took on my most recent trip to Space Center Houston.  If you ever visit, come early and take the Apollo Mission Control room tour.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Shuttle piggy back ride on 747

When the shuttle had to land in California due to weather conditions in Flordia, it had to take a piggy back ride on the Boeng 747 specifically designed to transport the space craft back to Flordia.

Aerodynamic testing was done to ensure the shuttle could be transported by the 747.

Inside the 747

The 747 was not a fly-by-wire aircraft.  The cables ran from the flight deck all the way to the control surfaces of the aircraft.

Apollo Mission Control Room

The Apollo Mission Control room has been restored to the way it looked on July 20, 1969 when the first man walked on the Moon.  Included in the tour was a playback of the actual moon landing with all the telemetry data on the screens updating real-time.  Very impressive.
